Xero Roadshow 2023

We recently had the pleasure of attending the February Xero Roadshow in Newcastle. Xero roadshows are designed to provide us with the latest updates on the Xero software, as well as an opportunity to meet with App partners to keep up to date with the latest add on apps for small businesses. Here are some of our key takeaways from the day.

1. Cashflow continues to be critical for small business owners. 1 in 4 businesses are cashflow negative more  months than positive.
2. E-Invoicing was covered in some detail. E Invoicing once setup in Xero allows you to have invoices flow both to customers and from suppliers allowing direct information to online files in draft form. The saving in data entry for some busineses could be massive. Pro tip: If you are a Bunnings Power Pass holder, E Invoicing can occur automatically.
3. The STP 2 deadline is quickly approaching on 31 March 2023. Xero have made getting ready for STP2 easy with a number of update wizards in your payroll system. It will be necessary to register for STP2 through the software over the coming month once enabled.
4. Employee management is becoming easier with updates to Xero Me – including improved ability to view timesheets on browser.
5. Xero has acquired Planday which provides roster planning and budgeting against revenue. It’s an amazing software which links to awards and will be up and running for hospitality clients in coming months.
   
   The theme throughout the day was Every Step Counts. For small business clients that theme could apply to ensuring that you regularly review your use of Xero and take small steps to ensure you are getting the most out of the product.
